AI Jobs in Kerala 2026: The Roles Companies Are Hiring For and the Skills They Want

AI jobs in Kerala in 2026 are concentrated in a handful of roles: AI Developer, AI Engineer, Agentic AI Developer, Data Scientist, AI Automation Specialist and AI Product Engineer. IT services firms, product startups and increasingly traditional businesses in Kochi and across the state are hiring for them, and most want practical project experience more than a specific degree.

The AI roles in demand

• AI Developer — builds applications with AI features using LLM APIs and AI coding tools
• AI Engineer — designs and deploys AI systems, including RAG and automation
• Agentic AI Developer — builds agents that use tools and complete multi-step tasks
• Data Scientist / ML Engineer — builds predictive models from business data
• AI Automation Specialist — automates business workflows with AI
• AI Product Engineer — turns AI capabilities into complete, usable products
• ERP/CRM AI Integration Developer — adds AI to the business systems companies already run

Skills employers ask for

• Python and solid software fundamentals
• LLM integration, prompting and structured output
• RAG, vector databases and agents
• AI coding tools such as Claude Code
• Deployment, evaluation and cost awareness
• A portfolio of real, deployed projects

How freshers get hired into AI roles

Freshers who get AI jobs usually have two or three real projects they can demonstrate and explain — a RAG assistant, an agent, an AI feature inside a full-stack app — plus solid fundamentals that hold up in technical interviews. Certificates alone rarely do it.
